Stephen Tereniak was born and raised in southeastern Pennsylvania. Following undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware, Steve moved to the University of Minnesota, where he received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees under Prof. Connie C. Lu in inorganic chemistry, studying mid-to-late first-row transition metal complexes with substantial metal-metal interactions. Steve completed a 4 hour vehicle ride east to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to research mechanisms and reaction development of Pd-catalyzed aerobic oxidations with Prof. Shannon S. Stahl, including high pressure NMR studies in collaboration with Prof. Clark R. Landis. After 3 years at Boulder Scientific Company (Mead, CO), Steve joined CHASE in May 2021 as the Synthesis Research Scientist.
