Hailiang received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University in 2012 and B.S. in chemistry from Peking University in 2007. Prior to joining Yale in 2014, he was a Philomathia Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at University of California, Berkeley. Hailiang Wang is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Yale University, and a faculty member of the Energy Sciences Institute on Yale West Campus.
Research in the Wang group employs chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology and surface science to tackle the challenges in electrochemical energy storage and conversion. The research activities involve exploration of novel chemistry and materials for high-density energy storage, development of catalysis for high-rate and high-efficiency energy conversion, and investigation of fundamental structure-property correlations and chemical processes in electrochemical devices.
